7 more indoor photoshoot ideas (with items you may already have at home)

Since we are still spending time at home, I wanted to share seven more indoor photoshoot ideas, this time featuring props or items you may already have at home! These are simple enough to set up either against a blank wall, against your bed, or even if you have a drying/clothing rack at home. I enjoyed these shoots this time around even more because I was able to incorporate tons of flowers! If you’re looking for more indoor photoshoot ideas, be sure to check out my last post from May 2020 HERE.

Repurposing gift bags

I tend to have gift bags lying around, either from buying them on sale or recycling them from gifts I’ve received. I decided to use them as part of my backdrop and fill them with the flowers I dried last summer and fresh roses I had and absolutely love how they turned out! I used crates and little tables to add some height dimension. This was definitely a favorite way to repurpose what I already had at home.

Creating a flower wall

This is one of my favorite at home DIYs I have done and it’s so visually rewarding! I created a flower wall last year (see this Instagram post HERE) and I really wanted to create another one in time for Valentine’s Day (hello repurposing content!). I usually have seasonal fresh flowers around and this time, I was able to find these lovely roses from Trader Joes for a fair price. I trimmed them up and made this little heart shape with soft pink roses and kept the leaves on some of them for an ‘imperfect shadowed’ look. This is one indoor photoshoot idea I’ll definitely repeat as more flowers come in bloom!

Using Candy as a prop

So if you didn’t know, I have a major sweet tooth =P I usually have candy around or I will look for some fun/new candies to try. I found this tub of rainbow sour noodle gummy belt things at Marshalls and it just so happened to fit my current Instagram (multicolor) theme and a sweater I have and thought it would be fun to match them for a photoshoot! I repurposed the rainbow gift bag I had and added the roses inside to create something fun and colorful (plus the candies were very tasty, hehe). Plus, I used chopsticks so my fingers wouldn’t get sticky.

Flowers from your yard (or market)

These roses probably look familiar to you and that’s because I used them in a couple ideas above! Plain and simple, you can repurpose flowers as a prop from using it by itself in a background if you don’t want to do the flower wall and just holding them. The flowers can also add some fun bokeh affects if you wanted to hold them out, tape them to you camera, or if you have someone shooting at home for your, having them hold it in front of the lens for that bokeh affect. If you already have flowers at home like me, then this is a simple way to create something different. This also works for other foliage like tree branches (see this Instagram post HERE).

Using PJs and blankets

Using blankets can add some fun color and texture to your images. I decided to wear some fun pajamas to go with the cozy look (and if you have some stuffed animals, throw them into the mix!). I featured pillows and stuffed toys last time I shared some ideas, but this time I’m throwing in the blankets too.

Hanging a white bedsheet

You’ll see that in many of the posts above, this white sheet has been the main background. If you don’t have the other props, just posing in front of a sheet can be fun and you can play with contrasting colors against it or create something more ethereal with the flow of the fabric. This sheet came from a bed set and is the piece that I never use at home so it just sits in storage. The larger size is nice because it covers a lot of space.

Your wall at home

The simplest idea I have today is to use one of the walls in your home but find some interesting ways to play with angles and posing! Here I came at it from the left side so it was slightly shifted, you can see the sheet that I hung up to the left. I tried an upside down pose as well which is not the easiest when it comes to a self timer so I did get some help here, haha. You can get creative here with items like a chair, sitting on the floor, etc.!

I hope you all found these helpful and inspiring, especially if you’re looking to create from home more often. There’s no wrong way to create, just have fun with it =)
